Boomers and Social Media is a report from eMarketer.com that examines facts from May, 2009. That data found that 47% of all baby boomers who make use of the Internet keep up a profile on at least one social networking web site. That's an increase of 15% from 2008. I have enthusiastically encouraged seniors on personal computers and the World Wide Web as a way of maintaining a high quality of life for my peers, in particular in the area of memory improvement. I, myself, possess a Facebook account and a couple of other social media accounts, besides. I monitor my Facebook page just about every day because it helps me keep up with people I know all over the world. In truth, I have never met some of them face-to-face, and others I haven't seen for fifty years or more!

News Feed, which shows up on every Facebook user's homepage and announces information including profile changes, upcoming events, and birthdays of the user's friends, if users opt to allow this.

Facebook Notes, a blogging feature that allows tags and embeddable images.

Gifts , which allows users to send virtual gifts and cards to their friends

Marketplace, which lets users post free classified ads.
