Here Is An Entertaining Halloween Activity For Kids - Crazy Spiders

This is probably one of my preferred Halloween crafts for children. It is fast and easy, could be accomplished with a crowd if necessary, and also is an excellent method to go through cutting and fine motor skills with younger children. Older children can allow their creativity take over and make some very crazy Halloween spiders!

You will need:

Black paper

Scissors

Glue or sticky-tape

Funny eyes (optional) or bits of paper and pens

Instructions:

Cut out a rectangle of paper just about 3 inches by 3 1/2 inches. Fold over the shorter side down almost an inch to produce a pleat, and unfold it up again.

Turn the paper so that the fold is horizontal, and cut the paper in 7 even lines up to the pleat making the 8 spider's legs. When working with smaller children, sketch in the outline for them to practice cutting on. When working with older kids, show them how to create the first cut in the center, dividing the area beneath the crease into two halves. Then demonstrate to them how to separate each half once more to make quarters, then the quarters making eighths. There is certainly no need be overly exact.

Now place the spider around the child's finger then fasten with sticky-tape or glue. Detach the spider again and garnish - either with bits of paper or else with googly eyes. Place the spider once again on the finger and twist the legs into shape or you could coil them around a pencil.

A few other options:

Dangle the spiders! Merely cut a length of black yarn (wool) and fasten on the head of the spider with a small bit of sticky-tape.

Create littler versions of these spiders to go on the ends of Halloween pencils.

Place little spiders around straws to adorn your Halloween table! Craft a number of larger spiders and place them around the table also.

Cut an ever so small slit on either side of the spider's head and include a name card turning these spiders into eerie place markers!

When the body of the spider is made but prior to decorating, place a black pipe cleaner round the head of the spider making a furry look. The extending tip of the pipe cleaner can be bent right into a hook shape, which makes the spider painless to hang from shelving, the tops of doors, and any number of spooky places! Glue googly eyes on top of the pipe cleaner.
